Just when I started to worry that I might find myself writing nice things about Afrojack more often, he puts out something so unforgivable that I’m disappointed in myself for ever having done so in the in the first place. The Dutch progressive house DJ/producer’s remix of Desiigner’s “Panda” is so thoroughly riddled with tired EDM clichés that I can’t even decide where to start.

I have to imagine that Afrojack suffered from the same short-term memory impairment as the main character of Memento while working on this remix, because he seems to have forgotten whether he started off with a trap, progressive house or Melbourne bounce synth lead at various points. I have to imagine that because I don’t know if I can live in a world where somebody with a fully-functioning brain thought that something like this might be a good idea.

I wish Afrojack‘s remix of Desiigner’s “Panda” was some cruel joke, but I’m afraid that a guy who gets paid to tour around the world and play electronic music for thousands-deep audiences is actually this out of touch with his fan base. With any luck, they won’t stand for it much longer and a change of career will be in order for the so-called producer.
