The song is heavy on lyrics about the commitment to grow and love one another in a relationship – inspired by Keys’ real life – and the music supports it by having an optimistic vibe behind it. With R&B influences galore, Keys has a potential hit with the infectious “Blended Family,” and its value is only increased with the addition of a verse by A$AP.

The emotional cut was executive produced by husband Swizz Beatz, and the singer calls the record her “most raw and honest creation yet.” Keys’ last outing was back in 2012 with Girl on Fire, so the anticipation is running high for her first record in four years.

Though “Blended Family” is the only confirmed track on HERE thus far, Alicia Keys has released a number of teasers throughout the year, including “In Common,” “Hallelujah,” and the Queen of Katwe song, “Back To Life.” While it’s uncertain whether those songs will make it, too, “Blended Family” is easily the strongest of bunch, so either way, the 16-track HERE is off to a fantastic start.
