Avicii And Otto Knows Preview Upcoming Collaboration

News of Avicii's retirement was met with mixed reactions from the electronic music community back in March, but those saddened by the announcement can at least still look forward to new releases from the EDM icon. Even before wrapping up his final tour, he's already proven that he won't be hanging up his hat as a musician altogether by uploading a preview for his upcoming collaboration with fellow Swede Otto Knows.

News of Avicii‘s retirement was met with mixed reactions from the electronic music community back in March, but those saddened by the announcement can at least still look forward to another new release from the EDM icon. Even before wrapping up his final tour, he’s already proven that he won’t be hanging up his hat as a musician altogether by uploading a preview for his upcoming collaboration with fellow Swede Otto Knows.

As you might expect from Avicii, the as-yet-unnamed ID is built from the main stage blueprint that post-EDM producers are ditching in droves. While Bebe Rexha’s vocals and arrangement aren’t unpleasant by any means, the track so strongly evokes a style of yesteryear that it almost seems to solidify the “Levels” producer as a relic.

For what it’s worth, Otto Knows shows promise for his own unique style of progressive house independently of Avicii. Considering the latter artist’s clout in the world of dance music, however, you really can’t blame Otto Knows for going after a tie-in like that.

Avicii and Otto Knows’ unreleased ID will come out on June 3rd, and the remainder of his final tour will wrap up at the end of August. In the time between, you can bet that the track will become a festival staple – if for sentimental value alone.
