New York City-based techno fans have new cause for excitement, as the Dutch festival brand Awakenings has announced its first stateside standalone event in the form of Awakenings NYC. Organizers gauged interest by curating an Awakenings stage at Electric Zoo earlier in the year, and based on the overwhelmingly positive response, they’ve arranged to transform Manhattan’s Hammerstein Ballroom into a pulsing techno monolith for an evening.
Included on Awakenings NYC’s lineup are Drumcode founder Adam Beyer in a back-to-back set with his wife, Ida Engberg. Techno aficianado Pan Pot is also confirmed for a set, as well as another back-to-back between Julia Govor and Kamran Sadeghi. The current list of names looks to be but an introductory taste of what the evening’s full entertainment roster will hold.
Now that Awakenings NYC has revealed that it will break off from its host festivals, we can expect more frequent updates before the event takes place on February 14th, so be sure to stay tuned.
