Becky G Unveils Music Video For New Track “Mangú”

Becky G has had somewhat of a marvelous career transformation over the past year. Hitting the scene as a product of Dr. Luke, her pop sensibilities were admirable, but did little to differentiate from her peers such as Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, or Demi Lovato. Despite multiple hit singles in “Shower” and “Can’t Stop Dancin’,” Becky G has yet to release a proper full-length album. It wasn’t until this past June when she dropped her first song recorded entirely in Spanish, “Sola,” that plans were revealed to come out with a Spanish-language record. Today, the music video was released for another song in Spanish, “Mangú.” Though it’s an abrupt change in style, Becky G fits right at home in the songs tinged with reggaeton influences, and it’s a breath of fresh air that separates her from the rest of the pop pack.

With this intended Spanish album upcoming, plans aren’t scrapped for an English-language album; both are expected out sometime next year. Though it’s not clear which will be arriving first, her success on Latin Pop charts speaks volumes, so it’s a safe bet that Becky G might be dishing out the Spanish record before jumping back into the mainstream pop world once again.
