deadmau5 is at it again, trolling the EDM industry and taking a satirical stab at it by releasing a new track titled Carbon Cookie.

The DJ took to Twitter earlier yesterday to announce that he was going to make some “incredibly cheesy shit for lols.” About 5 hours later, he returned with a full song, which he then released for free on his website. Proclaiming that all it took him was “4 vengance samples, 4 nexus presets and a brickwall limiter,” deadmau5 Tweeted that he spent 30 minutes putting the track together.

There’s no originality here, folks, as the song is a meant to be a parody, using the most generic sounds possible and playing out exactly as you would expect it to. But then again, that’s kind of the point. And, of course, leave it to someone like Joel Zimmerman to make a statement like this, right? The Canadian DJ certainly hasn’t been quiet about his views on the lack of originality going around the EDM industry these days.

The funny thing is, though, is that Carbon Cookie still sounds a lot like a deadmau5 song. In fact, despite it being completely stereotypical, a lot of people seem to dig it. For a parody track, it actually sounds alright.
