Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been enjoying a prolific release schedule over the last few months. Back in August the duo kicked off their “week of madness” that saw them releasing a free single every day for a week. Now, they’re back with a new offering, delivering a rowdy mainstage banger entitled “Leaves.”
Built around a sample from Kanye West’s “Blood On The Leaves” off the Yeezus album, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s latest effort kicks off with pounding drums and straight on the beat horn stabs, creating anticipation for what’s to come. The energy begins to ramp up with a maddening build up, before “Leaves” explodes into an electrifying drop based around four on the floor rhythms, sinister brass melodies and repeated vocal samples. The drums drop out as the duo take the track in a more melodic direction with a progressive house breakdown, before cycling through the rowdy drop one last time.
All in all, “Leaves” is a solid dancefloor romp from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike that will have you moving before it ends. The new single is available now as a free download, which can be found here.
