Back in 2007, rapper MIA was thrust into the spotlight with her single “Paper Planes,” an infectious pop number that took the radio by storm and gained further notoriety when it featured in the trailers for Pineapple Express. What a lot of dance music fans may not realize though, is that the hit song was produced by none other than Diplo, who is now best known as the leader of Major Lazer and one half of Jack Ãœ.

Diplo and MIA have a history not only as musical collaborators, but as former lovers who underwent a rather messy breakup. However, it appears the two artists have buried the hatchet in order to continue working on music together. Which is of course great news for fans, as their chemistry in the studio is undeniable.

MIA took to Twitter yesterday to tease her upcoming single with Diplo and Blaqstarr titled “Bird Song,” sharing an image to reveal the song’s release date is August 12.

Now that Diplo and MIA are back on good enough terms to work together, and considering her recent collaboration with Skrillex, is it possible that we’ll see the Sri Lankan rapper feature on a future Jack Ãœ single? One can only hope.
