In an unfortunate turn of events, Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella has announced that EDC New York has been cancelled for 2017. Taking to Facebook this week, Rotella released a lengthy statement explaining what fans can expect from the esteemed brand going into festival season next year.

Rotella explains that the New York edition of Electric Daisy Carnival will be taking a break in 2017, leaving open the possibility for a return in 2018. While festival goers on the east coast will be disappointed by the news, there are still a few positive updates in the post for fans to look forward.

EDC Japan will see its inaugural edition in Tokyo in the spring, while a major updating regarding EDC UK is expected to arrive very soon. In spite of cancelling EDC NY, Rotella has invited east coasters to join in the fun at EDC Las Vegas next summer, promising that an art car will be dedicated to the cancelled New York edition.

Lastly, Rotella notes that Nocturnal Wonderland will return to Southern California next year, albeit on a different weekend than usual. While the cancellation of EDC New York is a disappointment, there’s still plenty for festival goers to look forward to from Insomniac in 2017.
