Exclusive Video Interview With Above & Beyond

Above & Beyond have reached almost legendary status within the EDM industry, and for good reason. The UK trio, made up of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki, first got together back in 2000 and since then they've become gods of the trance scene, redefining it by delivering timeless tracks like Sun & Moon, Walter White, Alone Tonight, Thing Called Love and many, many more. Currently ranked #17 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 poll, Above & Beyond's uplifting and melodic trance anthems continue to win them the hearts of fans all over the world and even nearly 15 years since first starting their musical journey, they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Currently ranked #17 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 poll, Above & Beyond’s uplifting and melodic trance anthems continue to win them the hearts of fans all over the world. And even after nearly 15 years of making music, they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Last week, Jono and Paavo (the group rarely plays as a trio) touched down in Ottawa to perform a show at the EY Centre. Running through tracks both old and new, Above & Beyond put on another impressive set, providing a great audio/visual experience to accompany their music. It was my third time seeing them live and as always, I had a fantastic time. They never disappoint and those who were in attendance definitely got their money’s worth.

Before the show, I had the chance to sit down with the boys for an exclusive interview. Though our time was brief, they were extremely friendly and welcoming as we spoke about how they handle a podcast, touring and creating new music, why they chose to go in the acoustic direction for their last album, the pros and cons of having three people in a group and much more.

Check it all out in the video above and enjoy!
