Looks like we’ve all learned something today: If you throw away your street cred as an artist to team up with a world-famous pop star on a track for no other conceivable reason than because it’ll sell copies, it probably will.

Yes, that’s right, Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now” has officially gone triple platinum. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified “Where Are Ü Now” on March 28th, which signifies that at that time the track had moved over 3 million units (where a unit denotes one paid download or 150 streams).

Skrillex brought fellow Jack Ü collaborator Diplo as well as Bieber himself onstage to debut the song at last year’s edition of Ultra Music Festival, meaning that it took the track roughly a year to hit the mark.

And despite Bieber thoroughly redeeming himself with the rest of his 2015 album, Purpose, this is the track that endures. If you ask me, that’s far more indicative of an EDM end of times than Avicii’s “retirement.”

Against all odds, Jack Ü is still going strong in 2016. The power duo apparently has a new EP on the way, and is even collaborating with the likes of Florence Welch.
