Julian Jordan Makes Lackluster Revealed Recordings Debut With “Pilot”

It looks as though Julian Jordan might be going through something of a musical identity crisis in the wake of his Spinnin' Records split. The young Dutchman usually never fails to impress with his unique take on progressive house, but his first release on Revealed Recordings sounds as tragically interchangeable as everything else the Hardwell-run label puts out.

It looks as though Julian Jordan might be going through something of a musical identity crisis in the wake of his Spinnin’ Records split. At this point, you almost have to wonder if Revealed requires their signees to produce music using specific sample packs. “Pilot” sees Jordan lower himself to the vapid sort of big room house that fills time on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike sets, with none of the conceptual richness that distinguished his previous releases from similar tracks on the market.

Jordan and Danish DJ/producer Mike Hawkins followed Martin Garrix’s lead and left Spinnin’ Records earlier in the year – presumably to pursue more sincere creative endeavors. Being that Jordan has a collaboration with Garrix in the works, time will tell whether or now “Pilot” will have been a one-time departure from a more respectable body of work.

In the meantime, Julian Jordan also teased a concept titled “Play On” shortly after he parted ways with Spinnin’, so the young producer will have plenty of opportunities to redeem himself as the 2016 festival season unfolds.
