It’s news to no one that Major Lazer wrote the book on how to blend Jamaican dancehall with elements of popular EDM and hip-hop, but that doesn’t mean it stops impressing us each time the outfit does so successfully. A hopeful taste of what’s to come on the Diplo side project’s upcoming album, Peace Is The Mission, this newly released track features vocals by Elliphant and Jovi Rockwell in addition to the instrumental samples mixed seamlessly with electronic elements.

Diplo’s stripped-down production sensibilities are prevalent throughout, and the stylistic synthesis stands out as one of his more innovative recent efforts.

In addition to a long-awaited foray into television, Major Lazer is also slated to release Peace Is The Mission on June 1st. Until then, take a listen to the new track above and tell us, does “Too Original” live up to its name, or do you think that it missed its mark?
