Nicky Romero‘s been relatively quiet as of late. The Dutch progressive house mainstay and Protocol Recordings label head spoke with us not too long ago about how he became one of EDM’s most sought-after names in the past five years, but his releases seem to have been sparse in recent months. That’s why when we caught word of his edit of Magnificence and Alec Maire’s “Heartbeat,” we knew we had to check it out – and his take on the track certainly did not disappoint.
Romero’s attention to detail as a producer has helped him play a key role in shaping the progressive house sound that dominates the Beatport charts, and his “Heartbeat” edit builds on this legacy. Brooke Forman’s breathy vocals accompany a surging crescendo of synth stacks at each drop, and driving percussion competes with effects that are guaranteed to get the blood flowing in every body on a dance floor.
Take a listen to the track above and tell us, do you like the progressive house appeal of Nicky Romero‘s edit of Magnificence and Alec Maire’s “Heartbeat?”
