Who Dat – The Rise of J.Cole

People are constantly arguing over who is going to rule the hip-hop world next. Many are pointing to the likes of Drake, B.o.B, Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa. I am a big fan of all four however my pick is none other than Jermaine Cole aka J.Cole. J.Cole is the first artist to sign with Jay-Z's label Roc Nation and has the pride of North Carolina riding on him.

Unlike Drake, B.O.B, Cudi and Wiz, J.Cole spits his rhymes with passion and fury, creating metaphors that remind you of Jay-Z in his prime. J.Cole’s first big hit was “Lights Please” which is reported to be the song that got Jay-Z to sign him.

He has released two major mixtapes The Warm-Up and The Come-up. Both were huge successes in terms of mixtape expectations. His debut album is set to drop soon and features production credits from Pharell, No I.D. and Kanye West.

Cole has been featured on tracks by Jay-Z, Wale, B.O.B and Miguel to name a few. He recently released the track Who Dat which is reported to be the first single from his debut album. Who Dat is a hard hitting anthem that has turned haters into believers. Other notable tracks by J.Cole are Simba, The Last Stretch, Higher and Show Me Somethin.

Only time will tell who is going to run the rap game but one thing is forsure, there are a lot of talented young individuals out there. While the other artists are great, I think Cole is still the most talented and I really hope his career takes off and he gets the attention he deserves.

Check out Who Dat and let us know what you think of it.
