After years of development troubles, delays, and irrational behaviors by its leading man, The Flash has finally seen the light of day in its debut trailer at Super Bowl 2023
As initially hinted by the film’s first poster on Friday, fans of Michael Keaton’s Batman films of the 80s and ’90s are in for an absolute treat with Barry Allen’s solo film, with the fastest man alive’s multiverse-hopping adventure steering right into hitting all of the right nostalgic buttons. We also discovered that there will be multiple Bat-Men while Man of Steel’s General Zod is all set to make a comeback – so that’s exciting.
The trailer contains plenty of juicy hints to chew on as to how The Flash is going to help shape the future of the DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, and it’s looking increasingly likely that nothing will ever be the same again after Andrés Muschietti’s film.
While many fans are expecting this to be ‘the’ reboot film, James Gunn has previously confirmed that this won’t be the case entirely. Still, with Barry Allen seemingly upturning the entire multiverse in his quest to save his family, we can’t be certain.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see how the hype for Michael Keaton and all of the returning DC faces will be juggled with Ezra Miller’s ongoing controversies.
The Flash speeds into theaters on June 16, 2023.
