‘Ask yourselves this question’: Donald Trump’s worst nightmare comes true as Don Jr. defects to Adam Kinzinger’s camp

For Kinzinger, it’s a moment of vindication.

Donald Trump’s long-touted “perfect administration” is starting to look less like a well-oiled MAGA machine and more like a chaotic family.

The latest twist? Donald Trump Jr., has inadvertently handed a gift to Adam Kinzinger, the anti-Trump Republican who left Congress but never stopped being a thorn in the president’s side. Kinzinger, who has somehow become the voice of reason in a party that increasingly resembles a reality show gone wrong, capitalized on tweet from Don Jr., where Trump’s eldest son demanded the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s “client list.”

The timing couldn’t have been worse for Trump, who spent the weekend furiously defending his attorney general, Pam Bondi, after backlash from his own supporters over the Justice Department’s recent memo concluding that Epstein’s client list doesn’t exist. A 2025 DOJ and FBI memo stated there is no evidence that such a list exists, a conclusion that has enraged Trump’s supporters. Hence, Bondi has become a target for MAGA diehards who feel betrayed.

In a rambling post on Truth Social, the president went into full damage control mode, accusing his critics and political enemies of fabricating the Epstein files entirely. “For years, it’s Epstein over and over again,” Trump wrote, claiming the so-called client list was a creation of the “Radical Left,” specifically naming Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and even the Biden administration. “They created the Epstein files just like they created the FAKE Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax.”

He accused his detractors of manipulating his supporters into turning against him and his administration. “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and ‘gals’? They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening,” he wrote. But the denials are a significant pivot for Trump, who has spent years encouraging conspiracy theories to rally his base. Now, faced with a backlash from his most loyal supporters, he’s attempting to rewrite the narrative, claiming the list was never real to begin with.

Thus, Kinzinger’s repost of the tweet was simple but effective. Captioned “Mornin’,” it highlighted the growing contradictions within the MAGA movement. Don Jr.’s call for transparency now stands in stark contrast to Trump’s insistence that the list is a fabrication. As for Trump, he’s left trying to hold together a movement that seems increasingly fractured. His denials may buy him some time, but the damage is already done.
