The first few details of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, found in the next issue of Game Informer, have hit the net. According to the article, this will be the final chapter in the Ezio trilogy and will take place mostly in Constantinople which is split between four different districts: Constantine, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata. Players will also be visiting Cappadocia.

Ezio will be 50 years old in the game and will have a new weapon called the Hookblade, which he can use to zipline across the city as well as use it to grab and pull enemies closer to start an attack. There will also be over 300 bomb types, which Ezio can craft.

Eagle Vision has been changed to Eagle Sense. “Eagle sense let’s you focus on a character and see where he’s been,” said Ubisoft’s Alex Amancio. “You’ll get an approximation of where he will go. If you’re able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush.” This sounds very similar to the system that was in place in previous games so it’s unclear at the moment what the change in name will mean.

The Borgia Towers mechanic has been expanded in Revelations to Assassin’s Dens. You’ll need to complete various assault scenarios to take down the Templars in the region, whereby you can then upgrade local buildings, add ziplines and persuade guards to become neutral. However, the more notoriety you gain, the more likely you will lose control of the Dens.

If one of your Dens comes under attack, you can either defend it yourself or go to the nearest Den to send troops if you’re not close by. The article mentions that if you assign a Master Assassin to be the controller of the Den, it will never get attacked.

Speaking of your underlings, the article mentions that the leveling system has also changed. The max level has been increased from 10 to 15 and sidequests have been replaced by random events. These can include a shop owner being robbed or a little girl approaching you and asking for help.

Desmond will again play a role in the game and he has found a mode in the Animus called the Black Room. In these sequences, you will be able to access Desmond’s lost memories. “Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious.”

The article also states that Ubisoft is using a new motion capture facial technology called Mocam which Game Informer describes as “intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire”.

Finally, the article mentions that multiplayer will make a return to the game but will be more narrative focused. You’ll also be able to customize your appearance and weapons as well as create guilds.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be releasing this November but we’ll be sure to have more details in the coming months.
