You've got almost half a decade to prepare yourselves, folks.

Barring any additional delays or release date adjustments, Avengers: Secret Wars will come out in four years. The culmination of the current run of Marvel movies promises more characters than ever before, and, now, a new piece of fan art in the franchise’s house style is setting hearts online and all over a-flutter.

As of this story’s filing, the above post on the official Reddit subsection for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is burning up with discourse. As we noted above, the fan-made image is similar to official artist Ryan Meinerding’s efforts in finding the look of different heroes and villains before they are brought to life. Many love it, others are trying to spot Easter eggs hidden in the design and, for one fan, the crowding needs to be the harbinger of an event that will pare down the scope of the series in future projects.

Elsewhere in the discourse, there is some division as to just whether all of these characters will end up showing in the Michael Waldron-written film. One user argues the X-Men as depicted during their days at Fox will not be as present in this project after Deadpool 3 (which is rumored to include the characters and a certain key villain) while, for another, this would not make sense given the company’s groundwork.

Whatever the case, audiences will find out — again, assuming no further delays occur — May 7, 2027. Little is known about its plot or cast and, while Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the villain Kang and remains in the position as of this story’s filing, the allegations against him may push Marvel to change this, too.
