Grandmother buys a 2025 Nissan she ‘wasn’t even looking for.’ Now the car won’t stop bossing her around

This Nissan acts like it’s in charge.

A grandmother from South Carolina named Christy got a big surprise with her new 2025 Nissan Kicks SR. The car came with so much driver-assist technology that it started scolding her while she drove. Christy, who uses the name @carlinaclassy online, didn’t know her new car had all this high-tech software built in. This led to a few loud and bumpy weeks on the road.

According to Motor1, she posted a video on TikTok to talk about her experience, and people are definitely paying attention. “Imma tell you something: this car has a mind of its own,” she said in the video. She explained that she often talks to the British-voiced Siri she set up while driving home. Christy admitted that “the way he talks to me on the way home is a trip.”

The car isn’t just talking to her: it’s trying to keep her safe. Christy said that if she moves off the road even a little bit, the Nissan immediately starts shaking and making noise. This happens because of the car’s safety system that alerts drivers when they drift out of their lane or if there’s a steering problem. It’s an intense but useful way to make sure drivers stay focused on the road.

Modern cars come packed with safety features that take control

This is what happens when you buy a new car built to keep you in your lane and brake for you. The 2025 Kicks has a lot of safety technology, even though Christy wasn’t aware of it when she bought the car. She admitted she wasn’t even looking for this car and didn’t know the SR letters stood for Sport Rally.

The Kicks comes with features like lane assist, steering assist, radar cruise control, and ProPILOT Assist. This system is a hands-on driver aid that combines cruise control and steering help. It can stop the car completely and start moving again when traffic clears. This feature is really helpful for people stuck in rush hour traffic. If you connect it with Navi-link, the car can even predict what the road ahead will be like.

While Christy was frustrated with the new technology at first, people in the comments had different opinions. Some supported her, but many others used it as a chance to criticize Nissan. “Nissan is going under,” one person complained. Nissan owners have had their share of unusual experiences, including a man shocked by a letter from the company.

Others specifically attacked the CVT transmission. “Until the cvt transmission goes out, idk why ppl buy these,” one commenter said. However, one user defended it by saying that any transmission will break if you don’t take care of it properly.

Other people strongly agreed with Christy about the automatic braking being intense. One person shared a stressful moment: “That auto breaking is real. When I was driving down the road and this cat came out of nowhere across the street. My car stopped so fast on its own mind cause I didn’t see the cat. It was crazy, scared me.” Some drivers have dealt with even stranger problems, like a used Rogue that drove like it was possessed.
