A glossy white Rolls-Royce Wraith, heavily customized with widebody panels, geometric mesh grilles, and oversized white wheels, is making waves online, and not in the flattering way the owner likely intended.
The car, spotted in what appears to be Dubai’s upscale City Walk district, was photographed sitting in bright sunlight as pedestrians gawked nearby. After someone shared the picture on Reddit, commenters said the ultra-luxury coupe now resembles everything from a backyard patio set to a child’s toy.
“It looks like it was inspired by a cheap white plastic chair and a black patio table,” one person joked. Another comment aimed at the modified grille, saying the “grille and front air intakes look like they were made from old home radiator covers.”
“White rims” look like “a Lego car.”
Despite its unmistakable Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and proportions, the Wraith in the photo looks dramatically altered. The front fascia — or the entire front-facing exterior section — is square and slab-like, framed by a massive patterned grille and matching lower intakes.
The sharp-edged custom body kit pushes the car’s proportions to extremes, and the oversized white wheels, each crammed with dozens of delicate spokes, overwhelm the side profile. It’s certainly attention-grabbing, but not in a way the internet was eager to celebrate.
For instance, one of the top-voted comments read, “Someone pointed this out to me and I can’t unsee it, almost always white rims just make the car look like a Lego car. You too shall share the curse.”
Another user put it even more bluntly: “The fact that someone paid an obscene amount of money for… this… still makes me uncomfortable.”
A $300-$400k Lego car, that is

The Wraith itself is no ordinary luxury car. Even before aftermarket modifications, Rolls-Royce’s two-door grand tourer typically costs $330,000 and up. Bespoke builds and high-end trims often well beyond $400,000. The reason? Rolls-Royce vehicles are painstakingly hand-built, finished with mirror-smooth paintwork, powered by V12 engines, and trimmed in cabins lined with premium leather, real metal switchgear, and perfectly bookmatched wood veneers.
Virtually every detail can be tailored to a buyer’s preferences, which sometimes results in bold, controversial creations, like the one in the viral image.
Customization sits at the heart of Rolls-Royce culture, and nowhere is that more evident than in Dubai, where ultra-customized, over-the-top builds are an everyday sight. Widebody kits, unusual paint choices, and custom wheels are common among high-end owners looking to stand out in a city filled with supercars. But as the Reddit thread proved, standing out doesn’t always mean standing tall.
While some Reddit users admitted the Wraith’s craftsmanship is impressive, the majority piled onto the design, saying the ultra-expensive makeover only cheapened the vehicle’s inherent elegance. Whether the reaction was deserved or harsh, one thing is clear: even a Rolls-Royce isn’t safe from the internet’s most brutal car critics.
