‘We’re not gonna put Humpty Dumpty back together’: Dealer reveals what happened after customer’s Ford got smoked by dump truck

It saved the day, though.

A Ford dealership owner posted a video on TikTok showing a completely destroyed 2024 Ford Escape that was hit by a dump truck. The video has gotten over 33,700 views. The dealership owner used the crash as proof that Ford vehicles are extremely safe because the driver walked away without any injuries.

According to Motor1, the owner, who uses the name @thetruckcounselor on TikTok, filmed himself standing on a tow truck next to the wrecked SUV. The Ford Escape was a free loaner car that the dealership gave to a customer while their own vehicle was being serviced. The video showed the front end of the car completely crushed after being hit by a dump truck.

Looking at the damaged vehicle, the dealer said they won’t be able to fix it. “As you can see, we’re not gonna be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again,” he said in the video. Despite the severe damage to the car, the most important part of the story is that the customer suffered no injuries at all.

The crash rating explains why the driver survived unharmed

The 2024 Ford Escape has a five-star overall crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This high safety rating helps explain why the driver was able to walk away from such a serious accident without getting hurt. Having strong safety features in a vehicle is extremely important given how often car accidents happen.

According to NHTSA data, around 6 million car accidents occur in the United States every year. That means more than 15,000 crashes happen every single day. In 2024, an estimated 39,345 people died in car crashes across the country.

Many people in the comments section disagreed with the dealer’s claim that Ford makes the safest vehicles in the world. One person joked; “Impossible to get an accident if it’s always in the shop or retired in the driveway”. Dealerships sometimes face trust issues with customers, similar to incidents involving misleading vehicle conditions. Some also pointed out that Volvo is safer.

The dealership responded to the Volvo comments and admitted they were exaggerating when they called Ford the safest in the world. They said Volvo is “remarkably safe” but pointed out that it’s still impressive their customer survived without injuries given how badly the Escape was damaged. Transparency from dealers matters, especially after cases of broken promotional promises.

The NHTSA tests vehicles every year and publishes five-star safety ratings through the New Car Assessment Program. For 2025, the agency tested vehicles that represent about 86% of new cars sold. Other vehicles that received five-star safety ratings for 2025 include the BMW X3, Chevrolet Tahoe, Genesis GV80, and Toyota Camry Hybrid.
