The preview for “Rough” opens with a pounding house beat, as glitchy, chopped up vocal samples sound off in the background of the mix. Employing a variety of pitch risers and gradually building percussion, Bassjackers and Reez build up to the bass heavy drops, which feature grungy distorted synths, driving club beats, and a sinister vibe.

The preview for the upcoming track only gets us up to the first drop, but it’s enough to build anticipation for the new Bassjackers collab. The drops seem to draw on the sounds of bass house without fully committing to the genre trappings of the emerging style, which has gained exposure this year from other popular EDM producers including Jauz, Kill The Noise, and Ephwurd.

“Rough” will be released as a Beatport Exclusive on December 7.
