Call of Juarez: The Cartel has received an explosive multiplayer trailer, showcasing its new modes and gameplay styles. It’s visceral and explosive with a pretty fast pace.

The game’s multiplayer takes the form of battles between SWAT and cartel gangs. Each team controls a sect, with altering objectives depending on the game modes:

– Robbery Crew: Get in and get out before the cops stop you. Escape with the goods.
– Team Deathmatch: No explanation needed.
– Star Witness: Protect the star witness as the cartel tries to kill him.
– Cartel Deal: A shootout on the streets, with some sort of a deal gone wrong in the background.

This new multiplayer set-up really reminds of the two Kane and Lynch games. Robbery Crew is especially reminiscent to those games’ multiplayer mode, where you would try to complete a robbery and escape without being downed by the police. That game allowed for a lot of fun backstabbing between teammates, so it’ll be interesting to see if this one does as well.

From what I’ve seen thus far, I’m pretty sure that I’ll have a lot of fun playing multiplayer in Call of Juarez: The Cartel. I’m looking forward to the game’s release on July 22 and hopefully it will make for an exciting summer title.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is being developed by series creator Techland and being published by Ubisoft.
