With the passing of this year’s festival season follows suit a hunger for a new set of lineups to obsess over, and Coachella is certainly leading the pack in this regard. With 2017’s festival season looming on the horizon, fans are already hungry for the first round of lineup announcements from the majors. At this point, all we know is that DJ’s Snake and Khaled have proclaimed themselves as performers at the upcoming edition of Coachella, while an annual prediction with a history of foreseeing the festival’s lineup at a high degree of accuracy offers some clues as to what we might expect next year.

A travel website called TravelGrom offers up predictions about Coachella’s incoming lineup each year with a surprising success rate. Last year, TravelGrom accurately predicted 64% of the lineup, so their insights are nothing to scoff at. They’ve already released their predictions for 2017, and glancing at the list we see a number of enticing possibilities. Aphex Twin (who’s making his first stateside appearance in eight years at Houston’s Day For Night fest next month), Cash Cash, Dillon Francis, Eric Prydz, Kygo, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, Justice, Slushii, Tycho and What So Not are just a few of the electronic acts that grace the list, alongside plenty of names from other genres.

If half of the electronic names on the would be lineup above pan out to be true, we’ll be looking at an exciting roster. Apart from DJ Snake, we would hazard the prediction that The Chainsmokers could reasonably wind up on the mainstage after their monumentally successful year, while the same could probably be said for Major Lazer and perhaps even Justice. We’re seeing a melting pot situation unfold between pop and dance music right now, so it seems logical that Goldenvoice would tap this trend for next year’s lineup.

Of course, the one question burning on everyone’s mind is the possibility of Daft Punk hitting the road again in 2017. There’s been plenty of coverage devoted to this topic over the last couple of months, and many fans seem convinced that the robotic duo will either tour next year or at least hold down a few festival dates. There’s no specific rumor hinting towards Daft Punk winding up on the next Coachella lineup, but considering their past with the festival, it might be a destination they would settle on if they were indeed making a return to live performance. There was a leaked lineup poster for Lollapalooza that hinted at Daft Punk as headliners, as well as rumors hinting at a performance at Glastonbury, but at this point it’s all merely conjecture.
