Coachella‘s lineup has already swept the masses, leaving us all gawking and frothing over the details. While some are still pinching themselves at news of LCD Soundsystem’s reunion, frontman James Murphy isn’t stopping with just reuniting the band.

In collaboration with 2ManyDJs and sound engineer John Klett, Murphy has been working on project titled “Despacio.” The gist of the endeavor is an 11.5-feet tall speaker system, which is setup behind the crowd for “old-school disco power” that places focus on the music rather than the DJ.

Originally designed for use in Ibiza in conjunction with all-vinyl sets, Despacio saw its debut in 2013 at Manchester International Festival. The system incorporates seven custom built speaker stacks, 42 McIntosh amplifiers, and 50,000 watts of power to produce a steady 100db on the dance floor.

After shelving the project for a couple years, Coachella has decided to revive Despacio and feature it for the entirety of its two weekends. It has not been disclosed which artists will be playing on the system or where it will be located, but we can take a guess that its creators will snag some playing time.
