YouTube star Colleen Ballinger, known for her character Miranda Sings has responded to grooming allegations levied against her. In a 10-minute-long video where the creator sings her way through the accusations, Ballinger says that she is “not a groomer, just a loser”.

Ballinger denied the claims made against her, writing them off as gossip. This was done in the strangest way possible, as the creator sang her statement while playing a ukulele. Opening up her video, the YouTuber said that she was advised by her team not to say what she ultimately does.

“Many years ago I used to message my fans, but not in a creepy way like many of you are trying to suggest, it was more of a loser way. I was just trying to be besties with everybody.”

Allegations were levied against Ballinger by fellow YouTuber Adam McIntyre who says she messaged him when he was a teenage boy. McIntyre claimed he had been in a toxic and manipulative relationship with Ballinger when she was 30. After he came forward, further alleged victims came forward against Miranda Sings.

Through song, Ballinger says “the only thing I’ve ever groomed is my two Persian cats,” denying the allegations. As you’d expect, releasing a statement on a serious issue like this in a song hasn’t gone over well on social media.

Since the video dropped Twitter has been flooded with memes and fans unsettled by the way this response was handled. It remains to be seen if Ballinger will release another, perhaps more serious statement in the future.
