A woman and her boyfriend woke up one morning to find his car completely destroyed in their driveway. No one left a note or any contact information behind. The couple asked their neighbor across the street for help since they had a Ring camera. But the neighbor said no, which surprised them.
TikTok user Stacey (@sober.hag) shared this story in a recently posted video. “Someone totaled my boyfriend’s car in our driveway and we think it’s the same neighbors that have the Ring camera footage of it,” she said, according to Motor1.
About a week before posting the video, Stacey’s boyfriend went to his car to leave for work. He found the back of his car badly smashed. The trunk wouldn’t open, the headlight was broken, and since it was an older car, it was considered totaled.
The neighbors with the camera are acting suspicious
No one left a note, but the couple noticed a Ring camera on a neighbor’s house across the street. However, that neighbor wasn’t home at the time. The couple called their insurance company and the police to file a report. While doing this, Stacey’s boyfriend found red paint chips on his silver car. After looking at the damage, they were sure a red SUV hit it.
Stacey pointed out that the neighbors across the street drive a red SUV. After the accident, they hadn’t seen that SUV for two or three days. She thought this was very suspicious. Unfortunately, dealing with dishonest car owners can make these situations even more complicated. “The neighbors across the street drive a red SUV and it’s now been like two, three days we haven’t seen it at this point,” she says. “What are the odds?”
After several days, Stacey’s boyfriend asked another neighbor with a Ring camera for help. That camera didn’t record anything useful, but the neighbor offered to go with him to talk to the first neighbor. This time, a woman answered the door.
She said she already checked her Ring camera footage and didn’t see anything unusual. Later, she claimed the camera didn’t work at all. Stacey also mentioned that the woman’s son or grandson drives a red SUV.
People in the comment section bashed the neighbors for not owning up to their mistake. One commenter wrote: “that is such bullshit. like it was obviously them. why is it such a big deal to just be honest about it? the only thing I could think is if hes got past DUII’s and will get in trouble, doesnt have insurance or is on his parents, or even an excluded driver and insurance wont cover him plus drop any policy.”
When Stacey’s boyfriend said he would pay to test the paint chips, the woman seemed worried. Stacey thinks the red SUV driver was backing into the driveway too fast, accidentally hit her boyfriend’s car, and then drove away without saying anything. Some car owners behave badly when they think they can avoid responsibility for their actions.
