‘Daredevil’ fans lose their minds after rumored Netflix crossover makes zero sense

Make it make sense!

Things are never straightforward when it comes to the MCU and continuity. A recent rumor suggests that the upcoming Echo series will feature Maya in a flashback set during the third season of Daredevil, but the crossover has only caused further confusion among fans.

A lot of the confusion comes down to her age. In the flashback, Maya is rumored to be a child, which has caused quite a stir considering the age most fans thought her to be. Whilst she is supposed to be younger than Matt Murdock, the ages don’t seem to line up, with many believing that making her a child at the end of the third season of the Netflix show would make her too young to be the age she is in Hawkeye.

We don’t know just how old she’ll be in the flashback so it might make more sense once we see it. It’s worth noting that this is all still a rumor at the moment, so things could change, although if it is the case, it would be difficult to see how the ages would line up. Other fans pointed out that the five-year blip in the MCU could have accounted for some of the age difference that many just can’t get their heads around.

This wasn’t the only thing that had fans confused, though. As the MCU version of Daredevil is supposed to be more of a reboot of the character. It hasn’t been confirmed, but many believe that the Netflix series isn’t completely canon anymore. This was somewhat confirmed by the decision to change certain actors and ignore certain parts of the Netflix series. However, a flashback to the events of the third season has muddied the waters even more regarding the question of canon. Is the old series part of the MCU or not?

There were also questions regarding how Kingpin was not in jail after the finale of Daredevil in 2018, just adding to the ever-growing list of unanswered questions.

As the MCU has grown, it’s become quite difficult to keep track of. Hopefully, when Echo does arrive, it will have the answers fans seek regarding the old Daredevil show, as well as clear up just how old Maya is meant to be. The show is set to release on Disney Plus later this year, although there is not a specific date as of right now.
