Diplo And DJ Fresh Drop A Drum And Bass Collab “Bang Bang”

Following up on his collaborative remix of MØ‘s “Final Song” with Jauz from earlier in the week, Diplo is back to offer up a new single with DJ Fresh titled “Bang Bang.” The producer’s latest offering sees him stepping outside of his comfort zone on a drum and bass influenced tune featuring vocal contributions from Craig David, Selah Sue and R. City.

“Bang Bang” utilizes jungle style breakbeats to craft a spastic rhythmic backbone for the song, as Diplo injects his usual reggae influences into the production. As the drums crash on, Selah Sue’s soulful crooning takes over, set against an uplifting horn melody and plucky guitar strums. The varied vocal performances in the song keep the focus moving throughout its short runtime, lending an eclectic vibe to the collaboration.

Diplo‘s latest effort has us convinced that he can pull anything off as he ventures into the realm of drum and bass. Eschewing his mainstream tendencies, the Major Lazer frontman and DJ Fresh dream up an original sounding production on “Bang Bang,” while still delivering enough pop hooks and catchy melodies to keep things interesting.
