Dirtybird Records’ The New Year Special EP Brings The Groove

As we've mentioned before, electronic music in 2015 was defined by the younger generation's eagerness to embrace more classic styles, even if only for the sake of defining their own identity as part of this musical movement. Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records imprint has been instrumental in this trend, and their The New Year Special EP stands as firm evidence.

As we’ve mentioned before, electronic music in 2015 was defined by the younger generation’s eagerness to embrace more classic styles, even if only for the sake of defining their own identity as part of this musical movement. Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Records imprint has been instrumental in this trend, and their The New Year Special EP stands as firm evidence.

In true Dirtybird fashion, the tracks chosen for the EP retain enough underground appeal to satisfy the discerning tastes of longtime house and techno fans while still bringing fresh ideas to the table. Interestingly, up-and-comers like Nick Olivetti and David Keno are featured on the EP in favor of the label’s more established names – such as Shiba San or Justin Martin. In particular, Jaded’s “Made In China” makes for a lively synthesis of styles that closes out the EP with considerable flair.

On The New Year Special, VonStroke explains:

At the end of every year most labels and publications look back and reflect on what has come before, re-packaging old tracks together or making top ten lists. I’m always trying to find some big new records at the end of the year so I can go play something fresh, so I’d like to present the Dirtybird New Years Special.

Now that they’ve given us a glimpse of the talent in store for 2016, we look forward to hearing what Dirtybird Records delivers after the turn of the year.
