Disturbing note from 10yo kidnap victim found under Kansas City bridge — is it real?

Unconfirmed true crime reports have emerged on social media that Kansas City police are investigating a note found under a bridge in the West Bottoms area, seemingly written by a 10-year-old who claims he or she has been abducted.

The note goes on to include a license plate number and the words “blakc” or possibly “black Tesla.” It’s hard to make out, but the note also seems to say “I’m JoJo.” The Kansas City Star reports the license plate in the note is linked to a 2025 Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

A Reddit comment noted, “I saw a comment on FB where another local person stated there’s a missing 10yo in the KC metro area who is named Josiah. After seeing that, it looks as though it says I’m Jojo. I’m not sure if this is 100% factual, but I’m just mentioning this because it’s something I read elsewhere about this.”

At the writing, there is no official confirmation of a missing 10-year-old named Josiah in the Kansas City area. There have been unverified reports of a missing 10-year-old named Josiah Hill from Independence, Missouri, a Kansas City suburb. Officials have not linked the two cases.

Meanwhile, social media also says a black Tesla was abandoned in Blue Springs, Missouri, about 19 miles east of downtown Kansas City. Further discussions on Reddit have added to the speculation, with users noting that the license plate number mentioned in the letter corresponds to a black Tesla. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

Referring to the investigation Kansas City Police Department spokesperson Captain Jake Becchina told the Star, “We are aware of the reports and have an investigation underway now to determine any potential credibility.”
