Donald Trump denies his general’s Iran warnings on Truth Social—but his post might have only added fuel to the fire

He isn’t happy with the leaks.

President Trump took to Truth Social to push back on reports suggesting his top general, Gen. Dan “Raizin” Caine, had been urging caution about possible military action against Iran. The president wanted to set the record straight himself.

Reports had indicated that General Caine, who serves as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had expressed serious concerns to senior administration officials. These concerns reportedly included the risks of a military campaign against Iran, potential casualties, strain on air defenses, and the possibility of an already stretched military becoming overworked.

According to The Daily Beast, those same reports also said President Trump had been considering an initial strike in the coming days, with a larger military assault planned for later this year if Tehran refused to abandon its nuclear program.

Trump’s own words revealed more than he may have intended

President Trump attacked the press, stating, “Numerous stories from the Fake News Media have been circulating stating that General Daniel Caine, sometimes referred to as Razin [sic], is against us going to War with Iran.” He added, “The story does not attribute this vast wealth of knowledge to anyone, and is 100% incorrect.”

Trump then clarified what he believes Caine’s actual position is. He wrote, “General Caine, like all of us, would like not to see War but, if a decision is made on going against Iran at a Military level, it is his opinion that it will be something easily won.”

Trump also credited Caine with overseeing “Midnight Hammer,” an operation in June 2025 that involved strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Trump’s family has also been making headlines recently, with questions raised over Trump family trademark activity as Florida moves to rename an airport after him.

While Trump has consistently claimed the facilities hit during “Midnight Hammer” were “blown to smithereens” by B-2 bombers, preliminary assessments at the time actually downplayed the overall impact of those strikes. Trump made clear he holds the final say on any military decision.

“I am the one that makes the decision,” he stated, adding a warning to Iran: “I would rather have a Deal than not but, if we don’t make a Deal, it will be a very bad day for that Country and, very sadly, its people, because they are great and wonderful, and something like this should never have happened to them.” Meanwhile, Trump has also been making waves on other fronts, with Lara Trump explaining his alien disclosure plans drawing significant public attention.

Separately, officials have mentioned that both Washington and Tehran are considering an “off-ramp” proposal from Rafael Grossi, the director general of the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy Agency. The plan would allow Iran to produce very small amounts of nuclear fuel, but only for medical purposes, suggesting diplomatic channels are still being explored.
