A former Trump donor has filed a defamation lawsuit against Kimberly Guilfoyle, according to The New York Post. Eric Deters, a lawyer who previously accused Guilfoyle of asking him to cover her personal debts, says he is prepared to reveal more damaging information about her and other figures in President Donald Trump’s administration.
In a Facebook video posted by Eric Deters for Kentucky and America, he announced, “Today, this morning, the defamation lawsuit against Kimberly Guilfoyle has been filed in Kenton Circuit Court. He went on to mention that he will represent himself, Pro Se, because he knows he is the ‘best lawyer’ that can represent him. He also mentioned that it will save him a lot of ‘attorney fees.’
The controversy reportedly contributed to the White House asking Guilfoyle to step down from her ambassadorial post. The administration confirmed that she had been asked to step down, and she announced her resignation shortly afterward.
He has more information
Deters, however, is now suggesting that the messages are not the last of the revelations. He said he had received additional information about people connected to Trump and teased an upcoming recording that he claims could further damage Guilfoyle’s reputation.
“Information is pouring into me. And I got off the phone today from someone in Greece,” he said. “By the end of tomorrow I am going to play for you a phone recording that is the most explosive, most devastating information about Kimberly Guilfoyle to date.”
He also said he intends to pursue depositions of Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr., who were engaged in 2020 before ending their relationship in 2024. “This might just bring down the entire Trump administration, an administration which I have supported from day one, whose policies I still support,” Deters declared. He also suggested the recording could affect a potential political ticket involving Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who warned officials to follow ethics.
His demands are tied to the case of Abubakar Atiq Durrani, a physician indicted in 2013 on numerous charges involving allegations that he persuaded nearly 600 patients to undergo unnecessary and risky spinal surgeries.
Deters made clear that he is willing to drop the case if the Trump administration takes action to extradite Durrani and investigate how the judiciary handled the case. “This is not extortion,” Deters declared. “Nothing I am asking for or doing is unlawful. I am playing hardball because the doctor Durrani victims deserve hardball on their behalf.”
He is also seeking an admission that he did not blackmail Guilfoyle and does not owe her money. Guilfoyle’s lawyer has dismissed the lawsuit, saying that “The lawsuit is clearly frivolous on its face. Our upcoming response will speak for itself.”
