El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron Books A New Excursion Date

The beautiful looking religious action game known as El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron, may not be making its scheduled North American release date. Though it was originally planned to hit store shelves next Tuesday (July 26), both Amazon and Gamespot have altered their projected release dates for the visceral title, pegging it for an August 16 release instead.

For those who’ve never heard of the game, it’s an action beat ’em up that takes place in a world inspired by the religious Book of Enoch. Water colour paint and hand drawn visuals make it one of the most unique looking video games I’ve ever personally laid eyes on. The combat looks fast-paced, fun and challenging, so it should certainly appeal to a large group. Hopefully gamers will give it a chance to impress, even if they’re not religious people, as it looks like this one could be hidden gem material.

Its publisher, Ignition Entertainment has yet to officially comment on the speculated release date push. The European release date may not be affected as it’s scheduled to hit their shores in September.

The game has been in development since 2007, with one delay in the past. Hopefully we’ll see it soon.

UPDATE: This delay has been officially confirmed by Shane Bettenhausen of Ignition Entertainment. He cites “unforeseen logistical issues” as being the culprit behind the brief push back. However, the September 1 European release date is still standing and should remain unaffected.
