Halle Bailey stuns in ‘The Little Mermaid’ inspired dress on the film’s blue carpet

Halle Bailey looks stunning as always.

Halle Bailey proved that she really is the perfect actress for the live-action adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the film’s red carpet premiere. The actress stunned the crowd at the event with a dress that’s reminiscent of the original 1989 animation.

Bailey wore a custom Valdrin Sahiti dress on the blue carpet, which was designed to showcase more of the actress’ figure. At the same time, the dress shimmered throughout the blue carpet thanks to its reflective material. This outfit won the hearts of both the crowd and fans online due to how stunning the Bailey looked.

Twitter user @vixiebabe noticed a similarity to Bailey’s movie premiere dress and claimed that it looked similar to the one during the final scene from the original film when King Triton gave Ariel legs to be with Eric. And looking back, it could possibly be true since both dresses were not only elegant but shimmering.

During the film premiere, the original Ariel voice actress Jodi Benson told the press that she had “high hopes” for the live-action adaptation. It seems like her hopes have been fulfilled since early reactions reveal that this film is considered to be the “best live-action remake to date,” along with other glowing praise that was shared after the screening.

Despite not being out yet, the film has already received backlash due to how Flounder and Sebastian look, as well as racist backlash from fans upset at Bailey’s casting as Ariel. It was also reported that two of the songs will have their lyrics changed so they mention consent.

If you want to see Bailey’s performance as the iconic Disney Princess, 2023’s The Little Mermaid will be released in theaters on May 26, 2023.
