‘He said he was going to catch the criminals…’: Latino Trump voter harassed by ICE ‘100%’ regrets vote

Hindsight is, famously, 20/20 and across the nation, millions of voters are realizing that voting for Donald Trump was like jumping out of an aircraft without a parachute.

Trump voters who rely on Medicaid are horrified as they realize their coverage is over, deep red rural communities are miserable as their local hospitals close, Trump-supporting businesses have been crippled by tariffs, and the Cuban-American community in Miami is distraught as he cracks down on family reunions

It’s neither big nor clever to point and laugh at the misery of these gullible rubes, but who can’t resist indulging in a little “we told you so!”?

Anyhows, for today’s dose of regret, let’s hop over the Charlotte, NC, which has just been the target of yet another brutal ICE crackdown. MSNBC spoke to a regretful Latino Trump voter named Willie there, who explained that he’d been singled out and harassed by ICE thugs purely because of the color of his skin.

Q: You told me that you voted for President Trump in 2024. Do you regret that decision?

A gullible bunch

Not since “Turkeys for Thanksgiving” has there been a more gullible bunch than “Latinos for Trump”. They eagerly swallowed Trump’s insistence that his administration, staffed with white supremacists at every level, would only target illegal immigrants and criminals.

Surprise, surprise, Trump’s real targets are anyone who doesn’t pass the brown paper bag test. Throughout the year, we’ve heard horror stories from green card holders and full U.S. citizens who’ve been detained and imprisoned by ICE goons purely because they have a Latino-sounding name, an accent, or were ‘guilty’ of the crime of existing while having brown skin.

Is it too much to hope that the next time an election rolls around that minority voters realize Trump and his goons will never see you a “one of the good ones”, and are more than happy to lump you in with criminals?

Thankfully, this seems possible. Trump support amongst Latinos is cratering so badly that current polling suggests that even with highly gerrymandered districts, Trump is in for a serious drubbing in the 2026 midterms. But however else this shakes out, always remember that bubbling away under the Trump project is a bristling and ferocious core of white nationalism that wants to claim America as a caucasian and Christian country.

Remember, might be the loudest and most passionate Latino Trump supporter in town, but to them you’re just another stumbling block on their path to a lily-white America.
