While Oliver Heldens may have earned his way into the dance music spotlight with his signature brand of bouncy future house, the Dutch producer hasn’t shied away from expanding his musical horizons. His side project HI-LO offers up a different side of the shuffle master, and has gained plenty of renown in its own right. Following up on the Chocolate Puma collab “Steam Train,” the producer is back with his latest HI-LO offering, this time teaming up with Sander van Doorn for an underground flavored single titled “WTF.”
The new song kicks off with a steadily grinding beat, making it clear from the get go that we’re in for an energetic banger. As the kinetic drums pound out an unstoppable rhythm, a stuttering melody joins the mix to push things over the top. As the track progresses, Oliver Heldens and Sander van Doorn offer up ethereal strings and haunting atmosphere, bringing the hard hitting tune to a close with an explosive climax.
Oliver Heldens and Sander van Doorn have plenty of production chemistry and it shows through on their latest collaboration. The pair previously worked together on “This” back in 2014, and the new offering serves as a worthy follow up.
