The eagerly awaited sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was released in theaters on November 11, 2022. The debut of Black Panther (2018) marked a historic event in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It made history as one of the first superhero films to include a primarily Black cast, and its success has elevated it to the ranks of Marvel’s most successful films. Fans of the first film have been waiting for further information about what awaits the rest of Wakanda, and they have been counting down the days until they can watch what is sure to be a fantastic cinematic experience.
The 2022 film is set in the aftermath of the tragic death of the fearsome Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), during which the bereaved Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) strive to regain their footing in a world eager to deplete Wakanda’s prized vibranium resources. However, one year after King T’Challa’s death, Wakanda faces a new threat: Namor (Tenoch Huerta), a mutated commander of an unstoppable undersea warrior race, is determined to preserve and hide Talokan from the outside world by any and all means. And as the invading forces’ siege on Wakanda intensifies, the Wakandans must prepare to fight with or without its gallant protector.
While the film runs for nearly three hours, here are some scenes that didn’t make the final cut.
Anytime, Anywhere
Shuri first appears in this scene when she arrives in Haiti and she runs into Okoye. Okoye tells Shuri that she came to say goodbye, and when Shuri asks about her plans, Okoye tells her she will go wherever her new spacesuit takes her. This is a reference to the Midnight Angel suit that she got from Shuri. As the two part ways, Okoye adds that she is not a Dora anymore, and vows that if Shuri needs her, she will be there “anytime, anywhere.”
Outside the Scope
This deleted scene depicts Queen Ramonda removing Dora Milaje’s commander Okoye from her position. However, as was the case in Black Panther, the former general cannot remain silent while Shuri is still missing following a run-in with Namor. Okoye is ready to embark on her own journey to Talokan in order to rescue the princess, but she encounters opposition from her former coworkers and the king’s guard.
Daughter of the Border
Daughter of The Border centers on Dora Milaje, commander Okoye as she travels back to her home to meet with her uncle, a border tribe leader and elder. Okoye’s uncle encourages her to betray her friend, Shuri, and challenge her for the position of Queen of Wakanda, revealing that he has some plots of his own.
The Upstairs Toilet
Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) is at the center of this deleted scene, invading the NSA while posturing as a British spy. He is working with the Doras, focusing on a secretive laptop that Marvel carefully obscured with special effects. Anything in the laptop is certainly fundamental for the MCU. Moreover, this deleted scene notices a mysterious Harmon Taylor, Spymaster, who has never been caught.
