Black Panther: Wakanda Forever follows Shuri, a princess of Wakanda, as well as the sovereign nation’s people as they attempt to adjust to life following the off-screen death of T’Challa prior to the events of the sequel. The movie stars Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, and Florence Kasumba, but how much did it cost to produce, and, more importantly, was the Phase Four movie a box office success?

The budget for Wakanda Forever was estimated to be around $250 million, making it the most expensive Marvel movie featuring a Black lead and the fourth most costly overall. This includes the cost of filming in Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Massachusetts, as well as funds being used to create a realistic version of Wakanda as well as its many technologically advanced devices and gadgets.

The movie is dedicated to both Stan Lee and Chadwick Boseman, who passed away during the production of the film, and boasts over 200 cast members from across 30 different countries. It is considered to be the highest-grossing film of all time by an African American director.

Marvel fans should look out for a moving tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa), the first appearance of Ironheart (Dominique Thorpe), and also Namor’s (Tenoch Huerta) debut, the latter of which, alongside Angela Bassett’s performance, is considered a highlight of the sequel.
