‘I feel so guilty and horrible’: Pete Davidson reveals why he can’t give his girlfriend a dream pregnancy

Davidson is a great dad already.

We all know Pete Davidson is expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt—and that’s the problem. While he’s super excited about becoming a dad, he’s also opening up about a surprising sense of guilt he feels over his fame robbing her of a more private and “ideal” pregnancy experience.

On a recent episode of The Breakfast Club radio show, Davidson, 31, got pretty candid about his soon-to-be father status with Hewitt, 29. The popular actor was really worried about how his public persona was impacting her, saying “”I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of s—. Anything I do or she does is now gonna be a thing… She’s a very private person and she’s the one doing all the work. [She] never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.”

So even though she’s been understanding and supportive, Davidson feels responsible for the lack of privacy. It’s clear he wishes he could have given her the kind of pregnancy most women get to have. It’s a really kind way to think, especially since the public does go overboard with the actor.

Pete Davidson brings a lot to his girlfriend’s pregnancy, but not all of it is good

Beyond his concerns, Davidson is genuinely hyped about fatherhood. He told People at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie, The Pickup, that his friend Machine Gun Kelly, who’s already a dad, gave him some parenting advice.

Davidson said of Kelly’s advice, “It’s his favorite thing. And he’s like, ‘This is going to be your favorite thing,'” then Davidson said, “So I’m really excited…. I’m just excited to take care of the little one. The second I found out the news, I was like, ‘Oh wow, what I do is just a job.’ “

Davidson finished with, “I realized I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy. So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job and now I have someone to do it for.”

A source close to the couple told People that they “cannot wait to welcome their baby.” The insider said of Davidson, “He’s grown up a lot, and he’s so excited about this next chapter as a dad. He’s more intentional about who he lets into his life now, and with Elsie, it was never about headlines or the spotlight, and that’s exactly what he needs.”

It’s a tough balance for him, dealing with the downsides of his fame affecting Hewitt’s pregnancy while also being genuinely excited about becoming a father. But it’s clear his commitment to building a stable and loving family is a top priority. He seems ready to embrace all the challenges and joys that parenthood will bring.
