‘I was praying to God’: Erika Kirk reveals what she and Charlie Kirk were hoping for right before his death

Planning for a future that never came.

Erika Kirk has opened up about what she and her late husband Charlie Kirk were hoping for just before his tragic death. The conservative activist’s wife shared some deeply personal details during her first week of TV appearances since the shooting.

Charlie Kirk, 37, was shot and killed while speaking to students at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10. A suspect named Tyler James Robinson was arrested the next day and charged with aggravated murder and other serious crimes. According to the US Magazine, prosecutors have said they plan to seek the death penalty if the case goes to trial.

Erika appeared on Hannity to talk about her husband’s new book, which came out after his death. The book is called Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life. During an earlier interview with Megyn Kelly in November, Erika shared something heartbreaking. She said that she and Charlie wanted to have four children together. They already had a son and daughter, but they wanted their family to grow bigger.

The couple had big plans for their family

“I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered,” Erika told Kelly. She said both of them were really excited about having more kids. They didn’t want to wait.

Erika explained that having another baby would have been “the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.” She now tells young couples not to put off having children. “You can always have a career, you can always go back to work,” she said. “You can never just go back to having children.”

On Hannity, Erika also talked about how her 3-year-old daughter is dealing with losing her father. She said they talk about heaven at night, and her daughter asks what Daddy is doing in heaven. Erika told her that Charlie is still with them, just in a different place, and he’s building them a home in heaven. Her daughter told her, “I can’t wait to go.” Erika responded, “Me too, baby.”

Despite the tragedy involving a gun, Erika has maintained her Second Amendment stance following her husband’s death. Erika took over as chairman and CEO of Charlie’s organization, Turning Point USA, just days after his murder. She gave a eulogy at his public memorial on September 21, where she said she forgave her husband’s killer. “I forgive him because it is what Christ did,” she told mourners.

In the months following Charlie’s death, some personal details have emerged, including private messages about his past relationships that were shared publicly. Erika will continue promoting Charlie’s book with more Fox News appearances this week.
