Judge approves Diddy’s wardrobe upgrade as ‘business casual’ for trial

So Diddy can dress nicely.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the famous music industry leader, will attend his upcoming sex trafficking trial dressed in much nicer clothing than usual, thanks to a recent court decision. A federal judge in Manhattan ruled that Combs can wear business casual clothes instead of the typical prison jumpsuit, as reported by TMZ.

The trial, scheduled to start in early May, is expected to be a long and closely watched legal fight, with accusations covering more than ten years and involving multiple people who say they were victimized. Combs is dealing with very serious charges, including involvement in organized crime, sex trafficking through force, fraud, or pressure, and arranging travel for prostitution.

These charges come from a lengthy investigation started by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) after claims of sexual misconduct. In March 2025, HSI agents searched Combs’ homes in Los Angeles and Miami, taking phones and reportedly finding guns. The searches happened after several lawsuits accused Combs of sexual misconduct, accusations he strongly denied in a December 2024 statement on Instagram.

His arrest in September 2024 in New York made the situation more serious, leading to the release of a previously hidden indictment that laid out the charges. The indictment claims there was a long pattern of abuse, pressure, and exploitation targeting women over more than ten years, with accusations that Combs used his business power to help carry out these acts.

Making the case even more complicated was the arrest of Brendan Paul, a person connected to Combs, who was suspected of having drugs around the same time as the property searches. Paul later took a plea deal that let him join a diversion program, and when he finished it, the charges against him were dropped.

The number of accusations against Combs is shocking. After his first arrest, more than 120 people came forward with additional claims of sexual assault, including violent attacks, drugging, and the sexual abuse of minors. These accusations cover a wide range of offenses and make the case even more serious. One person who has accused Combs says they were only nine years old when the assault supposedly happened. Combs has repeatedly and firmly denied all allegations of sexual assault.

His legal team, which has changed during the case, has always said he is innocent and promised to fight the charges hard. One lawyer even called the initial searches a “huge overreaction using military-level force.” The upcoming trial could last as long as ten weeks, and prosecutors plan to share disturbing and graphic details about Combs’ alleged criminal activities.

They are expected to argue that Combs forced victims into drug-fueled, extended “freak off” sessions with male prostitutes, as well as beatings, rapes, and threats to keep victims quiet. A major witness for the prosecution will likely be Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who is expected to describe an incident where Combs supposedly physically attacked her. Surveillance video of that incident will reportedly be shown to the jury. Three other alleged victims will also testify without revealing their identities.
