Latest Marvel News: MCU fans crushed after ‘Secret Invasion’ destroys their dreams as an ‘Avengers’ icon is confirmed to make a dark comeback

Yet another Marvel project that doesn't live up to the fan theories.

Marvel‘s tactic of keeping its Secret Invasion secrets close to its chest ever since the Disney Plus show was announced has actually fared pretty well, as it’s created an aura of mystery and anticipation around the project. That’s why it’s so curious that the studio has decided to dump a ton of information about the incoming series at this stage. And, unfortunately, one of these revelations is disappointing the fans as it has proven a long-running theory completely false. Not to mention hinting that an OG franchise favorite may not be so loveable in their next appearance.

Emilia Clarke’s real Secret Invasion role leaves fans flushing all their theories down the toilet

Who’s Emilia Clarke playing in Secret Invasion? That’s probably been the number one question folks had been asking about the show, even though it was near-universally agreed that she must be Abigail Brand, the S.W.O.R.D. agent from the comics. Well, guess again, as it turns out Clarke is actually portraying a character we’ve seen in the MCU before, one with a familial connection to another major player in the series. Honestly, this news is a bit of a bummer as it may mean that the Game of Thrones legend won’t be as big a part of the franchise’s future as we thought, although there is still some hope.

War Machinists celebrating his imminent return may want to prepare themselves for a very different Rhodey

Rhodey fans have been eagerly awaiting his comeback in Secret Invasion, coming as it does just before his very own movie in the form of Armor Wars. For those War Machine maniacs, though, we should warn you that Don Cheadle’s old-school Avenger might be much more complex when he returns. Samuel L. Jackson has revealed that we’ll be meeting “a different kind of Rhodey,” who’s now “the president’s right-hand man” and so has to make a lot of “decisions—some good, some bad.” We can’t wait to see the show tackle this moral ambiguity, even if it may challenge our feelings for the hero a little bit.

‘Cold-blooded’ Olivia Colman will be like we’ve never seen her before when she makes her MCU debut

Emilia Clarke is not the only beloved British actress making their MCU arrival in Secret Invasion, of course, as Oscar-winner Olivia Colman is likewise involved. Colman is never far from our screens these days, but Jackson has assured us that her “cold-blooded” mysterious role is “somebody that you’ve never seen her play before.” The star apparently embraced the opportunity, too, as Jackman admitted that Colman “just relishes being that person.” Based on previous intel, we believe Colman is portraying Sonya Falsworth, the head of British intelligence. Could she be the MCU’s answer to DC’s Amanda Waller?

Jon Bernthal might be channeling boxer’s son Matt Murdock by stepping into the ring to train for his Daredevil return, but we promise we won’t be punishing you by withholding the next batch of the latest Marvel news.
