Latest Netflix News: As we get our first look at Henry Cavill’s last outing on ‘The Witcher’ we’re wondering if it really is the end for ‘Never Have I Ever’

Against all odds, a big month for Netflix.

Long gone are the times of consistent and long-running television programming. Nowadays we’re lucky if we get four seasons of our favorite show without a major cast member quitting, and positively blessed if they don’t make us wait two or more years in between each new batch of episodes.

Rotation is a big thing at Netflix — there are new shows coming out all the time, and almost as many shows either wrapping up or getting cut short. The Witcher is approaching a milestone with its third season as star Henry Cavill prepares to bid farewell to The Continent. Meanwhile, Never Have I Ever has officially aired its fourth and final season, but is that really it for the Mindy Kaling show?

Two years and a bunch of behind-the-scenes drama later, we finally have the trailer for season three of The Witcher

Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia is back for one last monster-hunting adventure. The new trailer for the upcoming third season of The Witcher was released by Netflix this week, promising a thrill-heavy outing for Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri.

The season will follow the trio as Geralt and Yennefer try to protect Ciri from monarchs, mages, and beasts alike. It’s supposed to follow the events of book number four in the Andrzej Sapkowski series, titled Time of Contempt, but if Cavill’s exit is any indication, it might not follow through on that promise. Ciri actress Freya Allan also added some fuel to this fire, by stating that her character will get to do a lot more in the show’s third season than she did in the book.

Still, we now know exactly how much time we have to prepare ourselves for the imminent disappointment, or hopefully, a pleasant surprise. On top of the trailer, Netflix also revealed the release dates for the season — yes, there are multiple. “Volume 1” arrives on the platform as early as June 29, with “Volume 2” set to follow a little under a month later, on July 27.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan has thoughts on that sneaky season four final tease

The fourth season of Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is supposed to be its last… or is it? That’s what we’re trying to figure out after the unexpected ending of the season’s final episode. And that includes the star of the show Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, who is as clueless as we are.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ramakrishnan said she has no idea what the last line of John McEnroe’s narration means. The tennis player who narrates the show ended the season by saying “Signing off… for now,” leaving every fan desperately clinging to the possibility of a college spin-off for Devi. “Never Have I Ever’s brand is chaos and confusion. That’s what we do. So it makes sense,” the actress said.

Some fans are hoping Devi ditches Princeton and goes over to Essex College instead to link up with the girls of Mindy Kaling’s other hit show The Sex Lives of College Girls. The Office alum clearly has an eye for good TV, as Never Have I Ever got to go out on top — literally. The show skyrocketed to the number one position in 57 countries, surpassing FUBAR and the Arnold docu-series.

Netflix’s new queer dating show is perfectly trashy

There have been a few attempts at making a successful queer dating show, namely the UK’s I Kissed a Boy and I Kissed a Girl, but Netflix’s The Ultimatum: Queer Love might be the most wide-reaching. The chaotic dating show, which throws established couples into the wolf’s den, premiered its first season at the end of May, but as more and more people have gotten a chance to binge-watch the season, the more they love it.

We Got This Covered’s very own Nahila Bonfiglio became obsessed with the show, watching its first batch of episodes three times. She’s surely not alone in loving this more nonchalant approach to queer love on TV, which gives us the messiness and drama that we, as human beings, all crave from a good reality show.

In an unexpected turn of events, Netflix is actually getting more subscribers

We hate to say this, but it looks like Netflix’s decision to unauthorize password sharing between different households might actually be working. The streaming platform has reportedly registered the highest number of new sign-ups across four days since January 2019.

The uptick directly followed the ominous statement released by Netflix on May 23, which announced the imminent beginning of its password-sharing crackdown. As a result, in the days between May 25 and 28, Netflix registered a percentage of new subscriptions that was 102 percent higher than the two months prior — likely a reaction to those sharing accounts from different homes scrambling not to lose their access.
