A New York man has admitted to murdering his ex-girlfriend and dismembering her body after their relationship fell apart. Damon Foy, 50, of Kerhonkson, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Alberta Dale, 44, who was from Pennsylvania, as per the New York Post. According to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Foy killed Dale, and was in the process of disposing of her body when authorities intervened.
The investigation began after Dale’s family contacted law enforcement because they were worried about her well-being. Deputies initially conducted a welfare check before launching a missing person investigation. When they visited Foy’s apartment, they found Dale’s car, but she was nowhere to be found.
Later, a member of the public found Dale’s phone on the side of the road and handed it over to authorities. Investigators returned to question Foy, who reportedly made a disturbing admission when they arrived at his home.
There was a suitcase in the closet
According to court documents, Foy whispered, “She’s in there,” before adding, “I killed her.” Investigators then obtained a search warrant and searched the property. Inside a closet, officers found a suitcase with what ‘appeared to be dried blood’ on it. When they opened it, they discovered Dale’s partially dismembered remains, including her severed head. The remaining portions of her body were not found during the search.
Investigators also learned that Foy had a history of domestic violence involving Dale and that their relationship was abusive. Court documents reportedly described a previous incident involving a gun, while deputies had also observed an axe at his property during the search for her. Dale had previously warned authorities that if she ever went missing, it would be because Foy had killed her.
During a later interview with investigators, Foy claimed that he had loved Dale but accused her of taking advantage of him throughout their relationship.“The only thing she kept doing after the time throughout the whole relationship was just play me, play me like a fool, play me like a sucker,” he told investigators, according to court documents.
He also complained that he had been told to leave his own home, describing the situation as a turning point. When investigators asked him about the flower found inside the suitcase, Foy offered little explanation, saying he was thinking about “what still happened last night to take s— over the top.” Foy is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16.
