Markiplier reveals an eerie trailer for upcoming horror film ‘Iron Lung’

Markiplier is dipping his toes into the underwater horror genre.

Markiplier is adding a new accolade to his list of accomplishments with the upcoming horror film Iron Lung. Derived from his own script, Markiplier embraces the idea of taking the script into his own hands as not just the film’s star but also its director and financer.

Deadline reports that details for the plot are being kept mum for now, but the film is said to be based upon a popular horror game, also titled Iron Lung, by David Szymanski.

The content creator is no stranger to the acting industry, and this certainly isn’t his first dance with playing a character — but it’s his first deep dive into a horror film, and he’s taking steps to ensure it’ll be an absolute hit. The submarine video game of the same name follows a premise that will undeniably set the tone for Markiplier’s film as “an unnamed convict who explores an ocean of blood on a desolate moon in a rusty submarine named the ‘Iron Lung.'”

The teaser trailer doesn’t give much away, but it’s done with a really fantastic transition from the video game to a scene from the film where Markiplier will face the horrors of the unknown in the depths of the ocean we’ve yet to discover. Look, we love the sea as much as the next person, but the idea of how much unexplored territory exists down there puts this movie on an already amplified level of horror.

With the influx of video games turned movies on the rise, Iron Lung will undeniably have an excited audience when it makes its big debut, and Markiplier’s fans alone will be showing up to see their favorite content creator on the big screen. Here’s to his next great adventure — and a deep-sea thriller so unnerving that we might just be watching it through the spaces between our fingers. There’s no release date for Iron Lung yet, but We Got This Covered will keep you updated when we get one.
