Leave it to Martin Garrix to build anticipation for a release by waiting five months to officially drop it. The Dutch superstar DJ/producer first debuted his Bebe Rexha collaboration, “In The Name Of Love,” at Ultra Music Festival in March, but the high-quality version has finally arrived today through Sony Music.
“In The Name Of Love” marks a foray into future bass that you might not expect from Garrix, who became an overnight star at the age of 17 for his big room house blueprint, “Animals.” Bebe Rexha’s radio-friendly verses work well here though, as they’re cushioned with a chorus of square synths as well as pitched-up vocal chops on the high end.
Garrix recently announced his global partnership with Sony Music, and “In The Name Of Love” marks his inaugural release. Being that future bass is one of the most sought-after EDM styles of 2016, the decision seems about as calculated as what you would expect from a “big four” record label.
Now that he’s broken the seal, it will be interesting to see what else Martin Garrix puts out in the months to follow. In the meantime, you can listen to “In The Name Of Love” featuring Bebe Rexha above. If you like what you hear, be sure to grab it on iTunes.
