Matthew Koma Returns With New Single “Kisses Back”

Matthew Koma is making a comeback with his latest single, “Kisses Back,” and it’s the kind of song that makes you wonder why he ever took time away from his solo career in the first place. His previous efforts like last year’s “So F--kin’ Romantic” and 2013’s “One Night” really showed the potential in what he could offer on a full-length, and the new single is surely a taste of what's to come.

Of course, Koma didn’t disappear completely – he still made an impact with the Tiesto single “Wasted” in 2014, featured on Steve Aoki and Flux Pavilion tracks last year, and recently wrote numerous songs for Hilary Duff and Zedd. Koma originally got his big break by co-writing the latter’s smash hit “Clarity,” and additional writing on Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut, Kiss, helped further develop his craft.

His new song, “Kisses Back,” appears to take the shape of the artists he’s written for rather than his own identity, but he pulls it off well regardless. With an addicting chorus and light EDM influences, Koma serves up a song that could turn into a remixer’s dream, and it’ll be fun to hear potential variations that might surface over the next few months.

Matthew Koma is finally going to be unleashing his debut full-length through RCA Records next year, and it looks like he’s shooting for similar success that he’s regularly found with co-writing.
