Media graduate says best friend always took credit for their work, sabotaged their love life. Then they decided to serve stone cold revenge

The friend reportedly never worked in media again.

A media graduate claims they finally stood up to a manipulative friend by letting her handle an event alone, according to a post shared on Reddit by u/Competitive_Clue1472 in r/pettyrevenge. The media graduate says the decision effectively ended the friend’s career in the industry. According to the graduate, the classmate spent years taking credit for work she did not do.

The media graduate, who says they were consistently top of their class during their degree, claims they did the heavy lifting throughout university. They say they taught themselves to shoot and edit using their own high-quality gear. However, the friend allegedly relied on poor-quality university equipment and manipulated the situation to look like a talented duo.

The graduate described the classmate as a narcissist who frequently tried to control their life and relationships. This allegedly included attempts to sabotage the graduate’s romantic partnership by spreading lies and destroying personal belongings in their home. The media graduate says they did not realize the extent of it at the time, as they were dealing with their own mental health challenges.

She apparently couldn’t get a single usable shot without them

Things reportedly reached a breaking point during their third year. The classmate allegedly kept booking the media graduate for events without permission, expecting them to work for free while she stood by and claimed the credit. When the graduate received a job offer that reportedly required them to start immediately, they refused to take part in the latest event she had scheduled.

The classmate reportedly reacted with anger, as the event involved someone she had a crush on at the time. The graduate told her she could handle the assignment herself. The media graduate says they knew the classmate lacked the technical skills to film or photograph the event, and expected the outcome to be a disaster.

According to the graduate, the classmate could not find a replacement in time and attended the event alone. However, she reportedly failed to capture any usable footage, leaving the event with zero coverage, and embarrassed herself in front of attendees.

After the event, the graduate blocked the former friend on all platforms. The classmate allegedly responded with pages of abusive emails, which the graduate also blocked. A mutual friend later told them that the classmate reportedly never worked in the industry again after that failure.

The OG poster says it took a long time to heal, but the moment provided a sense of closure. Online reactions have been largely supportive, as many commenters felt it was more than another petty revenge story. However, the account has not been independently verified.

One commenter wrote, “This isn’t remotely petty revenge. This was justice,” while another added, “Excellent revenge, spectacular work.” The post joins a run of viral Reddit accounts, including one man’s claimed revenge on a high school bully that reportedly played out over 15 years.

The Redditor says they have since moved on to the job that prompted the refusal, and with the classmate blocked on every platform, the two appear unlikely to cross paths again.
